I created these decodable readers (with background knowledge and vocabulary) to provide extra practice for my students. I wanted them to have additional readers that follow the UFLI scope and sequence.
Now they are available for your students.
BOOKS 8-19 (I created each book to go with the corresponding lesson) are available to order for August shipping. I will be adding additional books on a regular basis.

MY BACKGROUND
Hello and welcome! I have spent 36 years in education, 25 of these years as a reading and writing specialist. I’ve dedicated my career to helping children become successful readers as well as supporting educators in becoming highly effective reading instructors. As a dyslexia interventionist and LETRS-trained educator, I’m passionate about using research-based practices and materials with students. My mission is to offer high-quality decodable books that not only build strong foundational reading skills but also spark joy and confidence in beginning readers.

Decodable Text with Language Development
These decodable books are designed to go beyond basic phonics practice. Each book features a background knowledge page to introduce important vocabulary and concepts, plus a page to introduce multiple meaning words which appear in the text. These powerful additions help children deepen their language skills and better understand the text. This makes our books stand out from traditional decodable texts.

Learn Multiple Meaning Words
share these multiple meaning words before reading
When students encounter a word with multiple meanings in a text, they need to use context clues to figure out the intended meaning. By learning the different meanings of a single word, students deepen their understanding of language. This helps them make connections between words and different contexts, leading to more flexible and precise usage. Understanding and using multiple meaning words helps students express themselves more clearly and precisely in speaking and writing.

building background knowledge
Share this background knowledge before students read
While decodable texts are designed to align with students’ phonics skills and build word recognition, comprehension remains a critical goal of reading. When students are given context—such as information about the topic, setting, vocabulary, or characters—they are better prepared to make meaning from what they read.
Background knowledge activates prior learning and helps students connect new information to what they already know. This supports both language comprehension and engagement.

aligned
foundation skills
The engaging text is thoughtfully crafted to support beginning readers with content that is both educational and engaging. Aligned with foundational reading lessons, each page includes carefully selected decodable words and heart words, helping young learners build confidence and fluency.

engaging
images
The engaging images in these books are thoughtfully designed to reflect the world around us. Children are also drawn to the colorful, vibrant and eye-catching graphics that keep them excited to turn every page.

hidden pictures
fun with a purpose
To extend the learning and engagement, every book in the series includes a hidden picture puzzle that ties into the theme of the story. These playful puzzles help children develop important discrimination skills. Visual discrimination is a vital skill to help students notice the differences in letters and symbols. Hidden pictures are also just simply FUN!
